FACTS:

  • McMurray has two Cup Series victories at Talladega Superspeedway, coming in 2009 and most recently in 2013, driving the Cessna/Auburn University special paint scheme.
  • Since 2012, McMurray has completed every lap at Talladega six times. When doing so during that span, his finishes are: 11, 1, 11, 4, 19, and 2. That’s an average finish of 8th, when McMurray finishes every lap at Talladega.
  • Conversely, (and not uncommon), since 2012, in the seven races McMurray hasn’t completed every lap, his average finish is 35th at Talladega.
  • McMurray will make his 33rd start in the NASCAR Cup Series at Talladega this weekend. In his previous 32 starts he has scored two wins, eight top-five finishes, including two runner-ups, and nine top-10 finishes. He has led a total of 242 laps.

MCMURRAY ON TALLADEGA:

“Survival is the first word that comes to mind about racing at Talladega. Although I have been fortunate enough to win at Talladega a couple of times, superspeedway racing is not my favorite. There are so many unknowns and just things out of your control that can happen in a split-second.  Hopefully we can have some luck on our side and be in contention at the end of the day.”
