Talladega Superspeedway: Post-Race
No. 1 Winter Park Construction/Arctic Cat Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Start: 31st
Finish: 35th
Standings: 21st

Notes:

  • McMurray was required to serve a pass-thru penalty on lap 115 after being called for forcing the No. 21 car below the double-yellow line on the backstretch.
  • On lap 137 McMurray cut a tire, made contact with the outside wall and spun through the infield, eventually getting stuck in the grass and lost a couple of laps trying to get pushed out to make repairs on pit road
  • The caution flag was shown eight times for a total of 32 laps and the lead changed 15 times among 11 drivers

McMurray quotes:

“Such a disappointing day. We were just trying to stay out of trouble and run a smart race, hoping to be around at the finish. After Stage two, we were able to restart up front with the strategy that we were on. I guess the officials thought that I forced the No. 21 car below the line; I was only trying to avoid wrecking the field. A few laps after serving a pass-thru penalty, we wrecked after cutting a tire. It took a while to get out of the grass and get back to pit road which cost a few laps. After that we just weren’t able to make up track position and just nursed it back to the finish.”
