Standings: 21st (122 points behind 16th; final playoff spot)

  • After starting at the rear of the field, McMurray scored his seventh career top-10 finish at Darlington
  • McMurray was able to overcome a commitment line penalty during pit stops on lap 259 to regain position on the lead lap and score his fifth top-10 of the season
  • The caution flag was shown six times for a total of 35 laps
  • The lead changed seven times among five drivers

McMurray quotes:

“After missing the commitment line on one of the green flag stops, we had to fight to get back on the lead lap, a couple of times. We had a really good McDonald’s Chevy tonight.  Both of our team cars were really fast tonight.  We had a great car we just couldn’t ever get the track position that we needed, but overall a good night after a tough weekend.”

MENCS teams will head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway next week for the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday, Sep. 9. NBC Sports, IMS Radio Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90 will have live coverage beginning at 2 p.m. ET.
