Jamie McMurray and the No. 1 team head to the Magic Mile, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, this weekend for race number two in the opening round of 16 in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. After finishing 10th at Chicagoland Speedway last Sunday, McMurray moved from 16th to 11th in the championship point standings, now five points clear of the top-12 cutoff that occurs after next weekend’s race at Dover, Del.

In his previous 29 Cup Series starts at NHMS, McMurray has recorded four top-five and seven top-10 finishes, leading 32 laps and completing 8,287 of 8,681 (95.5%) total laps.

Sunday’s race, the ISM Connect 300, is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET on NBCSN, PRN radio affiliates and Sirius XM Channel 90. The three segments on Sunday will be broken down: 75 laps (lap 75) + 75 laps (lap 150) + 150 laps for a total of 300 laps.

“We are going to what I think is the most difficult track to pass on this weekend,” said McMurray. “Loudon is a tough track from the standpoint of track position and restarts are so important. The corners are so flat, so it makes it tough to get a good run off the corners to pass someone. We qualified good there at the first race this season, so hopefully we can back that up and maintain track position throughout the day. In these Playoff races, it will be critical to try and score some stage points to be in position to move on in each round.”
