No. 1 Sherwin-Williams Emerald Chevrolet SS
Jamie McMurray will make his 27th Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. During his career, McMurray has recorded four top-five and nine top-10 finishes, while leading 79 and completing 8,441 of 8,667 (97.4%) laps.
The No. 1 Chevrolet SS will carry the colors of Sherwin-Williams Emerald paints this weekend for the first time since September at Richmond, Va., when the No. 1 team clinched their second consecutive playoff appearance.
Texas Motor Speedway underwent a repave of the track surface in advance of this race weekend.
“I think Texas (Motor Speedway) will be a great unknown for us this weekend,” said McMurray, who currently sits ninth in the championship point standings. “With the repave and reconfiguration of the track I am somewhat surprised that we didn’t get a full test day to prepare for this race. I have always enjoyed racing at Texas, so I will be curious to see how everything goes this weekend when we finally get on track. We have had really fast cars at all the different track types so far this year and I expect this weekend will be the same, we’ll just have to adjust to the new track like everyone else.”
