In November 2008 two of auto racing’s biggest names – Earnhardt and Ganassi – launched a multi-car race team through the combination of the motorsports operations of Dale Earnhardt, Inc. and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.  Combined, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates now sports a history that includes six NASCAR championships, over 120 victories, 80 pole positions, over 200 top-fives and three Daytona 500 crowns.

In 2009, the newly formed organization transitioned to Chevrolets and moved to the former CGRFS building in Concord, NC. Former Indianapolis 500 winner and Formula 1 star Juan Pablo Montoya led the organization to their first-ever spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup behind the No. 41 Target Chevrolet and finished out the season with an eighth-place finish in the Championship standings.

The Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team, fresh off their most successful season to date, continuined with even more success in 2010.  Jamie McMurray took over the reins of the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boats Chevrolet from Martin Truex, Jr., reuniting him with Chip Ganassi, who McMurray drove for when he first entered the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2002, winning his first race in just his second start.  McMurray won three of the biggest races of the season -- the Daytona 500, the Brickyard 400 and the Bank of America 500 (Charlotte) -- to finish second in the money winnings for 2010.

Returning for 2011 are the potent driver and sponsor line-ups of  Montoya driving the No. 41 Target Chevrolet and  McMurray driving the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boats Chevrolet.  Both are looking to expand upon the team success they experienced in 2009 and 2010 respectively.
