Jamie McMurray, a two-time winner in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition at Talladega Superspeedway (2009 & 2013) has 29 previous starts at the 2.66-mile tri-oval, with seven top-five and eight top-10 finishes. He’s led a total of 242 laps and completed 5,155 of 5,510 (93.6%) laps of competition during his career at NASCAR’s largest track.
This weekend, the hood of McMurray’s Chevrolet will feature a new look to promote the $1 any size soft drink promotion happening now at McDonald’s restaurants. Customers can purchase any size soft drink for $1 and any small McCafe Smoothies, Frappes and Shakes for $2 at participating McDonald’s locations.
“Talladega is always a wild-card race,” said McMurray. “The schedule for the weekend is pretty laid-back, because teams will usually limit practice and once qualifying is over it is quiet until race time with the impound of the cars. I have been fortunate enough to win a couple of times at Talladega, but it is usually a matter of luck to be at the right place, at the right time. We have had fast cars every week so far and I know that our Superspeedway cars are always competitive, hopefully we can manage to avoid issues on Sunday and be in position to race for the win in the closing laps.”
