No. 1 McDonald’s Chevrolet

This weekend will mark Jamie McMurray’s 15th start at Watkins Glen. The driver of the No. 1 McDonald’s Chevy has completed 1,161 of 1,264 (91.9%) laps and led 13 laps at the 2.45-mile road course. He has three top-10 and one top-five finish, with an average start of 15.1 and average finish of 19.7. McMurray will look to improve on last year’s top-10 start and finish of 10th and eighth respectively.

Sunday morning at 10:45 am, McMurray will stop by the McDonald’s Family Zone at Watkins Glen for Q&A with race fans in addition to challenging some young participants to a remote control race for fun and excitement for the entire family. The visit is to support McDonald’s and their association with the track and to highlight the #KidsDriveNASCAR initiative this month, throughout the industry.

“It’s a road course and we only get to do two of those a year,” McMurray said. “I really enjoy road course racing. Watkins Glen is a lot different than Sonoma as far as the speed of the track and the grip level, but with the stages it adds another dynamic to the races. It’s very similar to how you call a race at Sonoma, Indy, or Pocono last weekend.

I think you’ll see people race for stage points, pit right before the second stage starts. Watkins Glen is a great track and the amount of people they put in there is awesome.”
