SaveMart 350 – Sonoma Raceway: Post-Race
No. 1 Cessna Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Start: 4th
Finish: 37th
Standings: 21st (62 points behind 16th; final playoff spot)

  • After starting fourth and running in the top 10 for much of the afternoon, McMurray was in the seventh position when a parts failure around Lap 33 sidelined the No. 1 car for the remainder of the race.
  • Outside of the stage breaks, the caution flag was only shown once today, for a total of eight laps including the stages. The lead changed 11 times among nine drivers.

“We had a frustrating day that ended early due to a parts failure,” said McMurray. “We had lost some track position after starting fourth, but had started to make up some ground when something broke. I was able to get back to the garage, and the guys assessed the issue, but unfortunately it wasn’t something we could get fixed and back on track. Hate it that we couldn’t run the whole race in Cessna Chevy, or at least get back out and try and earn some points and salvage a bad break.”

MENCS teams will head to Chicagoland Speedway next week for the Overton’s 400 on Sunday, Jul. 1. NBC Sports, MRN affiliates and SiriusXM NASCAR Channel 90 will have live coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.
