No. 1 McDonald’s Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
Start: 13th
Finish: 12th
Standings: 20th (58 points behind 16th; final playoff spot)

Notes:

  • McMurray started 13th, and overcame damage to the nose of the No. 1 Chevrolet in the early stages, to bring home a 12th-place finish, his third straight top-12 at Chicagoland Speedway
  • The caution flag was shown five today, for a total of 23 laps. The lead changed 24 times among 10 drivers.

“We really fought with the car being loose on entry most of the day. We had a good McDonald’s Chevy and I was finally able to try and start working the high groove late in the race and that helped us to pick up several positions on that last run. It was a tough day battling the heat, but the guys on pit road did a good job making adjustments all day on our pit stops. I got some damage to the nose on the car early in the race, so to be able to get that repaired and overcome the loss of track position I felt pretty good with at 12th-place result. I thought we had a top-10 car, so we just missed by a little.”
