Bristol Motor Speedway, dubbed “The World’s Fastest Half Mile”, hosted the eighth race on the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season. After enduring a delayed start and two red-flags for rain in the Food City 500, teams were able to complete the full distance, and McMurray drove the McDonald’s Chevy to a 14th-place finish.

After advancing to the third round of qualifying on Friday afternoon, McMurray and the McDonald’s team had a strong car for Sunday’s race. The McDonald’s Chevy was strong from the drop of the green flag and competed among the leaders through most of the race.

With just 32 laps remaining, while battling for a top-five position, McMurray cut a right front tire and made contact with the outside wall. The No. 1 Chevy was forced to make a pit stop and lost a lap to the leaders. McMurray was able to continue and pick-up several positions in the closing laps to capture a 14th-place finish.

With his finish, McMurray dropped one position and is currently 12th in the NSCS point standings.

CGRFS Quoteboard:
Jamie McMurray – No. 1 McDonald’s Chevrolet SS: – “Another strong run by our McDonald’s team at Bristol only to come up short. We had a really fast car tonight, but unfortunately I cut a right front tire and got into the wall with less than 40 laps to go. We were able to rebound a little bit with some cautions at the end and pick up a few positions. Not sure why the tire blew out, but pretty happy to salvage a 14th-place finish out of the night”.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will head to Richmond International Raceway and the Toyota Owners 400, April 25. FOX, Sirius XM NASCAR Channel 90 and MRN Radio will have live coverage at 7:30 p.m.ET.
