NOTES:

  • McMurray was able to overcome a one-lap deficit when he was forced to pit off-sequence under green-flag conditions in Stage 1, finishing 32nd in the first stage.
  • The sixth-place finish was McMurray’s eighth top-10 finish of his career in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
  • This was the first time that both CGR cars finished in the top-10 in the same race since Charlotte last Fall (Oct. 2017).
  • Sunday’s race was slowed by caution 11 times for a total of 54 laps. The lead changed nine times among four drivers.

QUOTES:

“We had two sets of tires that felt loose, which forced us to have to pit under green in Stage 1. I was just positive one of the wheels were loose, but they said there was nothing wrong. The car was shaking so bad I was scared so I went ahead and pitted. That happened to me twice, one time under green and then again have a real short green-flag run, I had to pit again. We had a really good McDonald’s Chevy tonight and we’ve come a long way, especially the Chevy’s from the beginning of the year 1.5-mile tracks. I think in less than a month we will contend to win. That is a good feeling.”
