Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) hosted what is a home race for most NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) teams, and race number one of the Contender 12 Round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Following a dreary rainy day on Saturday, NASCAR was forced to postpone the Bank of America 500 until Sunday afternoon. Starting under bright and sunny conditions, Jamie McMurray quickly picked up positions and drove to a 12th-place finish.

Following a disappointing qualifying result on Thursday night at CMS, the No. 1 team never wavered, turning the focus to Saturday night’s scheduled 334-lap race. Following the two practice sessions on Friday afternoon, the McDonald’s Chevy showed good pace in race-trim.

After the postponement of Saturday’s scheduled race to Sunday, NSCS teams were faced with racing with the unknown conditions of mid-day sunny weather, versus the cooler night temperatures at CMS. The variables never phased the No. 1 team as McMurray quickly advanced through the field, competing over half of the race (173 laps) among the top-15, ultimately finishing with a 12th-place result.

With his finish, McMurray remains 11th in the 2015 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings.

CGRFS Quote board:

Jamie McMurray – No. 1 McDonald’s All Day Breakfast Chevrolet SS: – “Our guys did a really good job making adjustments on the McDonald’s Chevy today. The car started out pretty loose early in the race, but the guys continued making good changes to the car and we were running lap-times competitive with the top-five cars. I didn’t know if we had a car capable of driving to the front like that after starting 30th today, but this team did a great job of preparing a good set-up. I’m proud of the effort from everyone on this team”

NSCS teams will run the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway next Sunday, Oct. 18. NBC Sports Network, Sirius XM NASCAR Channel 90 and MRN Radio will have live coverage beginning at 2:15 p.m. EDT.
