Jamie McMurray has four top-10 and one top-five finish in 14 previous starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He’s completed 3,739 of 3,759 laps (99.5%) of competition and finished on the lead lap 10 times. McMurray will make his FOX network broadcast booth debut on Saturday for FS1’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race. He will join FOX’s NASCAR play-by-play announcer Adam Alexander and Michael Waltrip to offer analysis for the entire race, which is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. ET.
McMurray and the No. 1 Chevrolet team participated in a Goodyear tire test in January at LVMS.
“Every tire test is a little bit different,” said McMurray. “For the most part, when you go to the tire test, they know the tire that they want to bring back. One of the things that we worked really hard on was trying to find a tire that ran really quick at the beginning and then had a lot of fall off and also wore out. Ideally, we would like to have the tires wear out when we are out of gas, so we have to put tires on if the caution falls. So, they had a couple of tires that did really well. They had some that wore out too fast, which was actually a good problem. What I gathered from that was they were going to go back and try to give us something in between. I thought it was a good test.”
